Return to the Absolute

As you return
to the absolute

to twinkle and shine in every raindrop

to comfort and soothe with each blade of grass

turn your regard
to we hostages left
still incarcerated
in our rotting flesh

and grant us your comfort one last time

We are bereft
and know not the freedom you have embraced

our muscles ache for the beat of your heart

we do not need your embrace

just some suggestion that you have discovered
the peace
denied you in life
