Waves

you come
in waves

you are connected
sex is connected
everything is connected
in one all-consuming
impenetrable web
and
I am a fly
trapped in the strands
waiting for the spider
to bite

you come
in waves

aren’t you a bruise?
aren’t you a bruise?
I just want to press you
till I know I’m alive

you come
in waves

god is your face and
your face is my face and
my face is winter and
winter is lonely and
lonely is god

you come
in waves

and
I miss you
like I miss
my own heart
but
you don’t come back
you come
in waves
